Dark Age of Camelot is another MMORPG from way back in 2001 but is still going strong today.  These tried and tested games will low quality (by today’s standard) graphics but massive amounts of content and huge player bases sometime just cant be beat.

Set against a backdrop of Norse mythology and Irish Celtic history it has great story’s to draw from.  The graphic quality falls between EverQuest and World of Warcraft and has the same GUI layout as EverQuest.

DAoC offers a selection of 45 classes across 21 races over the 3 realms and is very much still active in 2020.

Anarchy Online

Anarchy Online was one of, if not the first Si-Fi MMORPG.  With a TEEN rating for blood and violence, you can choose from 14 Character classes, various classes and trades.  Its been around since 2001 and has a similar look and feel to the games released around the same time. The graphics look a bit dated in 2020 but some of the older MMORPG have the best content so this is not to be over looked.

The GUI system is pretty much the same as EverQuest  and World of Warcraft so it is easy to get into if you have played them. It has the same style menus that you can run everything from Chat Commands and Keyboard Commands to the harder to set up Voice Commands.

Once you get past the low quality graphics and actually become used to them, you don’t really notice them anymore. These game are all about the community and having fun!

The levelling system does follow that of EverQuest but instead has a system similar to Eve Online where you add XP points to the area you wish to focus in and that in-turn adds to a sub skill below it.  The combat system for me was poor and seem like you are just on auto attack mode the whole time, this may develop at high levels but at low level its either you win, die or run away.

Age of Conan: Unchained

Age of Conan as it was originally called has now become “Free to play” and has added the Unchained to the title to reflect this.

The sound and graphics are slick with the combat setup requiring some skill and timing to get good results rather then the auto attack and hope you win situation we see on so many MMORPGs. With many of the normal feature we see from some of the top tier MMORPGs we also see a system that uses Shortcut Keys  to navigate the play system, Slash Commands to create short scripts and macros and the funny character EMOTES are also present.

You can play 12 different classes from Tank class (Soldier) right thought to Healers (Priests).

Guild Wars 2 – Slash Commands

Guild Wars Slash Commands can be activated from the console window and also incorporated into macros or scripts for easy use and to help save to and help your game play run smoother.

/ageDisplays the time you have wasted playing Guild Wars 2, use with caution

Guild Wars 2 Emotes are access from the command line windows in the format of  /emote, /em, /e, or /me  followed by the emote command of choice. You can play around with targeting yourself, others and even NPC’s to produce different results.

Emotes can even be used to access areas, special abilities and change NPC’s view of you all using the /e command

When using /dance each race has there own as followed

  • Asura: Robot
  • Charr: Haka
  • Humans: Melbourne Shuffle
  • Norn: Carlton’s Dance
  • Sylvari: Bhangra

Adding a * after /dance will add your moves to the dance queue so everyone will start dancing at the same time. Queue is 5 seconds long
