EverQuest 2 seemed to be the long awaited update to the graphics engine that EverQuest 1 so desperately needed! New graphics engine, amazing models, super textures but still with that EverQuest play-style.  Having played EQ1 since release, we knew the format, setup, layout, Lore and so jumped into EQ2 soon as it was released in Nov 2004.  We was going to give EQ2 4 weeks of solid play before making a decision to jump to World of WarCraft or not. If you have read my World of WarCraft section you know i jumped to WoW

It wasn’t that the graphics were bad or it didn’t meet expectations, or the quests were lame, it just wasnt EQ1, simple as that. I managed to get to level 50 and had joined a guild and started to progress nicely into the game but it just didn’t fill that void of EQ1,  my first MMORPG!  I am sure there will be players out there that first played EQ2 and then tried other MMORPG and have felt the same way and now say “its just not EQ2″, that was the best” and i realise now that a lot of the thrill was it being the thrill of the unknown, something new and the people you met along the adventure.

EverQuest 2 does live up to the original in that it has all the great features of EQ1 but with a newly updated story line to the Lore and better graphics.

This is not a guide to EQ2 but more like a technical list of all the options, commands, scripts, macro etc that you can play with within the game.

Hotbutton/hotbutton [title]Use this command to create an empty hotbutton. Add the new button to your hotbar and right-click it to edit it again. You can have up to 5 commands in each hotbutton.
Pausing/pause [tenths]Use this command in hotbutton to pause for the given enths of a second (eg: 10 is 1 second). For example:
/cast 1, /pause 20
/pause 30, /cast 2
would cast your spell in slot #1, wait 2 seconds, then cast the spell in slot #2 and wait 3 seconds. It doesn't matter if the pause comes before or after the command...it always takes affect after the command is executed.
Timer/timer [tenths]Use this command in a macro to keep the button depressed for the length of the timer command.
Loot Macro/target a_, /pause 1This macro will loot most NPC corpses within range. This can be useful if the corpse is inside a wall or otherwise can't be targeted with the mouse.

Corpse Drag Helper/corpse, /pause 2While /corpsedrag makes this less useful this macro can still help to manually drag a corpse. The /loc is to help your determine where you lost a corpse if you get out of range.

Buff Macro/rtUse this macro to setup easy buffing on the last person to give you a tell. Great for raids to help others keep track of who is buffing what. The two /cast lines are to catch any fizzles on the first cast. Change the chat channel (8), spell slot (2) and messages depending on your own setup./cast 1 (1 being minor healing)

User Interface

/load_uisettingsBrings up a dialog with a list of characters. Select a character with the window (UI) laylout you want
/load_uisettings {name}.datLoads your user interface settings from the file if you had saved with "/save_uisettings {name}.dat" command before.
/save_uisettings {name}.xmlSaves your user interface settings to a file {name}.xml under your eq2 directory with the named specified. Very useful in case you loose your hotbars look, etc. Tip: If you can name your files combining with your toon name and date, it may be easier for you to switch back to your older profile.
/savehotkeys nameofhotkeysetupSaves your current hotkey setup to a text file so that you can load it again.
