Searching for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence

SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data.

Imaging actually finding something out there!! "Are we alone" is one of the deepest questions of the age. Here is were you can help the great search. When your PC is idle, SETI kicks in just like a screen saver, and crunches data collected from radio telescope's. It analyzes radio pulses from distant stars in the hope of finding a signal or repeating patterns of some kind.

Here at OGC we fully support SETI@home and have servers running 24/7 crunching data for the project, but we need more!! Please join up and use your idle computer time to help look for ET.

What you need to do!

• Create a SETI account and join SETI@TeamOGC
• Download the SETI client for your PC here SETI client Download
• Install the client and select the mode you wish to run SETI. Service or Screen Saver, see note bellow.
• Now login to the "Your account" section on the SETI home page, setup your options and sit back and crunch some data.

Note: There are 2 install options, run as a Screen Saver or run as a Windows Service. Running a service computes more data but the screen saver looks cool :) Look here for screen shots SETI Screen Saver.

If you are going to run dedicated crunching servers then its always better to select the service install as this will produce better results.
